12/03/08: Lesson Montage, part 1: Basics

So every Tuesday, I teach "animé" drawing lessons to a young girl. I'm not sketching on Tuesday because I spend two hours doing it for the lesson. So here's a montage.

that seems like such a weird concept to me. Teaching someone to draw anime. *shrugs* Of course I've always thought that teaching someone to draw is weird. I've always felt that you can help and point in the right direction, but drawing is something someone should figure out on their own so they can really get their own style and love it. Maybe that's just me

Don't you go to art school? Come on, you know there's lots to learn from those who have been at it longer than you. Proportions, hand mechanics, inking techniques...learning drawing is no different than learning math. I mean, it is, but, you know. =) Also, she's 10 years old.

That's true, but that's more like, tips and tricks, not actually teaching someone to draw. That would be like drawing a person and saying "You have to draw it this way" thats how I've always imagined teaching someone to draw would be. I'm in art school to learn techniques to help me help myself draw better, not to be taught how to draw.
